Instructables and Me

Let me tell you about Instructables and how I feel about it.  It makes me smile...A LOT!  The editors at like what I do...A LOT.  One of the things that they do to make you feel appreciated is "feature" your instructable, if they feel that it meets a certain standard of quality.  I have met that Standard in 15 out of 25 Instructables.  Only now I have a problem, as an award they give you 3 month "Pro" membership.  They will also give 1 year "Pro" membership if they show your Instructable on the Home Page and it you win a prize in one of their Weekly Challenges. Usually you will pay money to obtain the advantages of a "Pro" membership.  I have at this time 22 years of "Pro Membership".  One nice advantage is that I can give 10 of them away.  So, if you are a friend of mine and would like to sample the joys of "Pro membership" at  Contact me in the comments below and, if I don't already have it get me your e-mail address, and I will see what I can do.  Once they are gone they are gone.  Thanks for looking.
Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

The one thing about being ready for Christmas, well before Christmas is that you truly have some extra time on your hands. So I ended up filling some of that time, publishing 4 more Instructables. Three were relatively easy, one was more complicated. Lots of fun though. Here they are:
This one is the rules to follow for a great looking package, anytime of the year; found here.
This one is about one way to wrap small and unusual shaped packages.
This one is about making a box out of a milk jug, Found here.
This one is about creating a Pinewood Derby Car.  Not too bad for this years car;  Last but not least found here.

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to you and yours!

Simple Gifts

In truth here are 2 more Instructables.  These are being given out by MDH to his co-workers tomorrow.  The Instructable can be found here.  I may have to make more between now and Saturday.
These are the doilies, that I posted the pattern for, on this blog. What to do with them, what to do???

Finally I decided to turn them into bowls and fill them with chocolate and
wrap them up pretty and they will be birthday gifts for my friends this coming year.  Go to the archives to find the pattern to make a doily and you can find the Instructable on how to turn them into a bowl here.

Are You?

I saw this saying many years ago at the Festival of the Trees.  I finally got my act together to create my version of it.  So here is a thought to really think about this Christmas Season.

Merry Christmas!

My grandson is one of the joys of my life, and the fact that I see him almost everyday really helps.  Yesterday, he and his Mom didn't leave here before Grandpa arrived.  Xander worships his Grandpa.  They were playing when Xander came into the living room with some left over tissue paper from package wrapping.  Now you need to understand that Xander loves Butterflie's.  He can spot them anywhere.  He spotted the ones on the ficus tree at my Mom's house.  He spotted the one on the fence at the same place.  He spotted the one in my room, above my bed.

I wasn't surprised when we had a little boy running around the house with tissue paper butterfly wings taped to his back. (Remember, there are both girl and boy butterflies.)

This Week

I  have been busy this week. Until I reached today and realized that, other than read this really great book, I'm reading, I didn't have anything I absolutely had to do. Okay, I had to do a Secret Santa delivery. I also had to do dishes, but then when didn't I have to do dishes. So I decided I could write and publish a couple of Intructables. So here they are for this week.I have been collecting the pictures as I did each project, so it was just a matter of writing them up and publishing them.
This is my version of Butter Beer, for the MDH, who is a Harry  Potter and all things Harry Potter Fan.  The recipe is found here.
I had to make sugar cookies for a Cub Scout Pack Activity this week.  So as, I had to make the cookies anyway, why not make an instructable of it.  So here is the recipe with how to do it!

I have come to the conclusion, that a majority of the things I create can be made into Instructables.
So my creativity is still doing it's thing, only now I do them with a camera in tow.

All About Utah

There is a great new blog called "All About Utah" by Leca.  This blog is for all of us who live here in Utah!  She is new to Utah and doing a lot of exploring with reviews of places you've been and many you haven't.  You can get to her blog here.  It's lots of fun.  Let's enjoy it together.

Creations for This Week

So, I went a little crazy this week.  Some how I created 3 instructables.  One I was about half way done, when I decided to get out the camera and create an instructable of it.  The next one came when MBH wanted a pair of wool mittens for Christmas, the 3rd came after I dropped my stained glass Christmas picture and shattered it.  It went into the round file. So I needed a front window replacement.  I didn't get exactly what I wanted, but it is lovely! So here they are:
Here is a Neck Warmer with Buttons. Warm it is and "Cute" according to TPTB.  It can be seen Here.
Here are the mittens made by me for MDH for Christmas.  Warm and soft and the directions of how to make them came be found here.
Here is a LED Snow Flower as a window decoration for this holiday.  It was supposed to be a star, but even my 2 1/2 year old grandson recognized that it is a flower.  You can see the directions of how to make it here.
Have a great week!

I Create!

One day it dawned on me that they wanted me to let everyone know a little about me.  By the by  my identity at Instructables is craftknowitall:  Any who, this is what I wrote:  "In a valiant attempt to keep myself from dying of boredom, I create."  Yep that's true.  Since the first of the month of Dec.  I have posted 3 more instrutables with 3 more in the works.  I came to an agreement with MDH.  I can do as many instructables as I desire, as long as I don't spend too much (read here "any") money.  So if I can do it with stuff I have hanging around the house I am ready to go.  So here are the latest 3 Instructables:

It was a runner up in the "Weekly Challenge:  Leftovers".  Not too bad for a good soup.

This is a How-to-Make-a-Candy/Treat-Jar.  Cute, it lives by my bed with Jordan Almonds in it.  The M&M's are for the grandson.

This is the How to Make a Vortex in a Bottle.  I published it 2 days ago and it has had almost 3,000
(at this moment 2987) hits.  I'm told that it is "Popular".

I am having fun.  I got an Instructables sticker in the mail to day.  It said:
The Worlds Biggest Show & Tell
That works for me!

HomemadeTurkey Noodle Soup

Well it is Dec. 1st and I have published another instructable here.  I like that I am finally writing down some of the recipes that I have made for years, without a written recipe.  I entered it in the Instructables "Leftovers" weekly challenge.  Way Fun.  I am busy making things for other people right now.  No boredom happening right now.
