The first Halloween after we were married, Gampa took me for a ride to a neighboring community.  We stopped in front of a house that had a huge spider on it's roof.  He said. "I want that."  So the next Halloween and every one since we have worked on having spiders on our roof.  We have people stop and look at our house constantly during the month of October.  This happens especially on Halloween Night.  We have Trick-or-Treater's pull up in a vehicle, get out and trick-or-treat just our house.  We are known in our neighborhood as the  Spider house.  We love it.

This is the spider I created yesterday.  This spider made Gampa smile when he saw it.  It makes me smile too.

Open the Door

On Saturday, He will be 18 months old, and if your have a door knob that pulls down, you are no longer safe.  He can open the door.  So to keep Him inside I locked the door.  Today He tried to unlock the door before he opened it.  I guess I will need to lock the dead bolt.  He already is stair safe, so we need to be very careful.

Snowflakes and beads.

Here is my selection for the Snowcatcher, Snowflakes and beads challenge. I crocheted beads into my snowflake to be different.  It was fun!

New Bathroom

The house we live in was built in 1972.  Over the years we have done what we can to keep it in good shape and livable.  The one room we haven't done much to (except for paint) was the upstairs bathroom.  One month ago on a Saturday, we started demolition.
We took out the old toilet, tub it weighed around 500 lbs (solid steel), tiles and even the floor.  We found where mold was below the window. (That black stuff was mold.)
We had to replace the sub floor around the toilet because it was soft.  Not good, not good at all.
Here it is with new sub floor around where the toilet will be.
Then we put down cement backer board to make the floor nice and water tight. YES!
We put in the new tub and closed off the window put in new insulation and smiled a lot.
We covered the walls with green rock, which is about the same color as the green we had painted the walls.
Then we mud and taped.
Next we put in the ceramic tiles for the floor.  This the 3rd time this floor has been done.  It will be the last.  Once the ceramic tile was in and dry then we could put in the toilet.  We were one week without a toilet upstairs.  Then we finally got paint up and put in the new tub surround.  Looks really nice.
Last but not least, we put in a new counter top and sink. Still need to finish painting, and will get that done this coming Saturday.  I love it.  Same basic bathroom, just up dated and fresher.  Hurray!  Not bad for two old fogies.
